The Mainstream Maintenance (MM) for GTS 11.0 will end at the end of 2025, prompting companies to now carry out the migration project to its successor (E4H).
However, you are not forced to migrate. When Mainstream Maintenance ends, the release (GTS 11.0 in this case) automatically enters Customer-Specific Maintenance (CSM) on the 1st January 2026, which does not have an expiry date or have to be ordered explicitly. You would receive similar services in CSM to MM, but there will be some restrictions in the scope of service due to the fact that GTS 11.0 will no longer be adjusted to new requirements.
To elaborate on the restriction of scope, the following will apply:
- No delivery of Support Packages
- No delivery of legal changes
- No guarantee of technological upgrades
- No support for new interfaces
- Payments required to solve problems unknown to SAP (with no guarantee they will be solved)
SAP will also not be able to support software from third-party providers which are no longer maintained by the manufacturer, whilst in CSM. Therefore, you would have to upgrade to more current versions of this software, but these current versions might not even be supported by GTS 11.0 at that point.
In conclusion, if you do not switch to E4H before the end of 2025 you will be switched to CSM, which will add a large amount of risk to business operations (with particular emphasis on the legal changes no longer being provided for GTS 11.0 past the end of 2025).
